Work

No, I don't really love my job this much, but there is some info you should know as it is relevant, if for nothing else than as backstory.

I was hired at Walmart as an overnight associate in September of 2010 (I had been unemployed for 10 months prior due to a layoff). I was originally hired as a produce associate. I hated it with a fiery burning passion, mostly due to, well, backstabbing co-workers on the day shift and the merchandise supervisor hating my guts. And really, who can get excited about vegetables? After months of nagging management, I was finally transferred to my dream department, electronics, at the end of July '11. ...And then Home Office eliminated the position at the beginning of October.

So for the next 2 months I was in limbo, going back and forth between electronics and stocking on the floor until my job code was officially changed to Dry Grocery/GM Stocker. Keep in mind though that management didn't take away my numbers (i.e. login) for the cash register and they still expect me to handle the pick-up-today (PUT) orders that come through during the night. Our new co-manager is kind of like "whatever" in regards to electronics, so these days I'm on the floor except on Monday nights when I put out the new releases. And if changing jobs 3 times wasn't enough, I was promoted to the Mod Team at the end of January. Yay Friday and Saturday nights off! :D

The whole job code fiasco was a bitter pill for me to swallow.

So there you have it. I do enjoy what I do, it's a lot better than what I have done, but to be honest they took my "spark" away with my electronics position. Hopefully this information will make future work-related posts a bit less confusing for you. :)
